The Rheumatology Care Unit (VE) within the Department of Endocrinology, Nephrology, and Rheumatology at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is responsible for both broad rheumatological healthcare and regional care for patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases. The regional care manages patients with complicated medical conditions from the southern healthcare region. The Rheumatology Section is also responsible for pediatric rheumatology, where doctors are employed at the Rheumatology Section, but care is provided at the Children's and Youth Hospital (BUS) in Lund. We have a care ward with six beds in Lund, rheumatology outpatient clinics in Lund and Malmö including infusion sites and rheumatology day care.

We conduct extensive research ranging from connective tissue biology to immunology, epidemiology, therapy studies, and rehabilitation. Close collaborative forms with several specialties are established, and internally we work in teams.

The rapid development in rheumatology in recent years and the anticipated retirements have led to a high demand for rheumatologists. Knowledge about underlying causes has increased, leading to the development of new medications and treatment programs with early diagnosis and early treatment initiation for rheumatic diseases.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking forward to welcoming a senior physician to our team!

You will primarily work with outpatient clinic activities. Here, you will be responsible for examination, diagnosis, and treatment. Your duties also include teaching students and supervising residents. Furthermore, you are expected to support and mentor less experienced colleagues, not only residents but also newly hired specialists and other healthcare professionals, by sharing your knowledge and experience. Duties will include working in nephrology, rheumatology, and dermatology departments as well as on-call duties within the rheumatology area at Sus. Work locations are Malmö and/or Lund. Duties may be required at both locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a licensed physician authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare and have:

• specialist competence in rheumatology
• language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale
• completed or planned course in clinical supervision
• full-time employment of at least five years (documented effective time)
• clinical skill and independence in rheumatology
• documented teaching and mentoring merits
• PhD
• experience and interest in research.

PhD and/or specialist examination can be credited for a total of six months of clinical service.

As a person, you are resilient, flexible, and able to adapt to changing circumstances. You have good patient contact and a strong commitment to what you do. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

At a university hospital unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and training. This can be acquired through supervision of nursing and medical students as well as physicians in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application any completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in supervision, and teaching at various levels.
